One Bowl Chocolate Chip Banana Bread – The absolute best, super moist banana bread recipe that is easy to make in just one bowl! This banana bread is full of chocolate chips for even more decadence!
Just a quick note! This recipe was originally published in January 2017 and we’ve updated it just a tad to add a video. The chocolate chip banana bread stays the same! 🙂
Banana bread is something that I crave regularly, all year round. I look forward to cooler temperatures being upon us so that I actually feel like warming up my oven to make some!
Fall and winter are my favorite food seasons for sure. As you know, I love quick and simple dinners, but there’s also nothing I’d rather do than spend a weekend hunkered down in my kitchen baking away!
Actually, when I first started this blog about a year and a half ago, it was going to be pretty much baking recipes only! As I kept blogging, reading, and listening to everyone I started to understand that I would be much more of a value to you all if I posted things that we all need like weeknight dinner recipes!
Meals that are quick, easy, and not boring is what I was seeing that everyone wanted, and I enjoy making them and posting them just as much as sweet treats. Who would have thought?!
Chocolate Chip Banana Bread:
Making chocolate chip banana bread is a breeze with this simple one bowl recipe!
- First, you will want to mash your ripe bananas until they are as smooth as possible. Then, add your sour cream and butter to the bananas.
- Next, just drop in your sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix really well once again!
- Third, we will add the dry ingredients of flour, baking soda, and salt. This is where it’s important not to over-mix. Mix the batter just until everything is combined. Then, fold in the chocolate chips!
Enjoy!

Best banana bread recipe EVER!!
I’m so glad I found the recipe. I had extra sour cream I needed to use, so I did a quick google search and this recipe came up. I have to say this is an AMAZING recipe. The bread is moist, but not wet. I sprinkled brown sugar on the bread for an extra chewy crust. So so good. This is a keeper.
Do you know the difference in baking time if making them as muffins instead?
I normally don’t leave comments mostly because I usually make changes to an original recipe but I had to say I’ve made Countless banana breads and this one is the absolute best. Here’s the main reason why…. It’s not GUMMY. If you’ve made any other banana bread before you know what I mean. As others have mentioned mine needed more time too. It was still jiggly in the middle at 350⁰ checked after 55 mins. At that point I covered it with foil and added about 10 more mins.
These are the changes I made but I am Sure it would be just as perfect as is)
The only chocolate I had was dark morsels (those are the giant “chips” so I rough chopped them.
I also roasted 1/2 cup walnuts
Added an extra banana because I had 4 super ripe ones left.
I did 3/4 cup regular sugar and 1/4 cup dark brown sugar and finally I also added a tsp banana extract
I am so glad I took a chance on this recipe, 15th time’s a charm I guess! Lol
Made this today…followed the recipe and it is so good. Will be making again. Thank you?
I really like the recipe but, as written, it is just way too salty for me. I’ll try again with maybe 1/4 tsp of salt rather than 1 full.
Hi! I’m sorry you found it to be too salty for your taste. You can definitely even leave the salt out completely if you prefer, especially if using salted butter. Hope that helps! 🙂
Our daughter and her husband just made this for us and it was just delicious. We didn’t want to leave without the recipe! Thank you so much!
I made it in a glass 9×5″ pan with the temperature at 325°F for 80 minutes and it came out wonderful!
