WHO WE ARE
Hi, I’m Nichole, I’m the blogger and photographer behind The Salty Marshmallow! Also behind the scenes here is Dan, my partner in crime and website designer. You’ll also hear me talk about my other two favorite partners in crime, my kids, Bailey and Ethan. I’m updating this section just a bit because I filled it out almost a year ago when I was just starting out! I truly wouldn’t say that I have a certain “niche” for this blog. I am just a normal Midwest mom that loves comfort food, baking, and I’m always striving to feed my family as healthy as I can. If you came here looking for easy dinners with big flavor, you’ll find it. If you came looking for cookies, you’ll definitely find it! If you came looking for something healthy to whip up, you’re in luck there too.
HOW I GOT STARTED
I started actually trying to cook back in 2005 (I was REALLY good at making toast) and baking didn’t come for me until 2008, and let me tell you, before that time I was completely lost in the kitchen! Yep, I said it! I never dreamed that I would end up with a major cooking/baking obsession. When I started baking it was due to the fact that I always felt like I could do better than dropping off store bought treats for my kids school parties, true story. So, I started out making cookies from boxed cake mixes. Once I realized that I was pretty stinkin’ good at cookie making AND that my kiddos really enjoyed being in the kitchen with me AND that I kinda liked the good stuff I was coming up with…..well, the rest is history.
THE SALTY MARSHMALLOW
I’ve had a few people ask me where I came up with the name for the blog. I wish there was some really cool story behind that, but it honestly just came to me one day. The idea of having a name that combines the best of both the salty/sweet world just did it for me!
Please feel free to comment on my recipes, and let me know if you try them! Contact me via email anytime with comments, questions, concerns or if you are interested in working together. You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, and I’d love to see one of your original photos if you whip up one of my recipes!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy!
