Easy Drop Biscuits are a simple, quick and easy biscuit recipe that comes together in about 15 minutes! These biscuits are perfect with gravy or a nice addition to any meal!
Drop Biscuits:
Drop biscuits are a staple recipe in my house! They go perfectly with almost any meal, but especially with our Best Sausage Gravy for breakfast or a big bowl of Homemade Tomato Soup! My recipe uses simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. We use flour, baking powder, melted butter, milk, and a few seasonings to pull these biscuits together in only 15 minutes or so. There are no special steps, and my favorite part is that we use melted butter rather than cold butter to keep these even easier!
What are Drop Biscuits?
Drop biscuits are a type of biscuit that is made from scratch! They are called “drop” because there is no rolling out or cutting of the dough. They are simply biscuit dough dropped onto the pan from a spoon and then baked. This makes them much faster and easier to make than traditional biscuits that are cut into circles/squares and rolled.
How To Make Easy Drop Biscuits:
- The first step is, of course, to preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Prepare a large baking sheet with either butter, non-stick spray, or parchment paper.
- Next, I like to go ahead and cut my stick of butter into cubes, then melt it in the microwave.
- While the butter is melting, I whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and garlic powder in a large bowl.
- Then, add the milk and butter to the flour mixture and stir just until all of the flour is moistened.
- Drop the dough by heaping Tablespoons onto your prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-11 minutes until they are golden.
- Optional: If you choose you can brush these with extra melted butter right when they come out of the oven!
Enjoy!

I also threw some cheddar cheese in my second batch around and OMG they’re so yummy. My kids swear they’re exactly like Red Lobsters Cheddar Bay biscuits! They turned out beautifully. But I wasn’t able to post pictures.
Omg ive been looking for this my whole adult life. With teenage boys and husband they are always hungry and buscuits are a favorite. But take so long. These are perfect and simple. Thank you from one busy mom.
Easy peasy to make! I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 regular flour. They are perfect with just a hint of garlic. Thank you for such an easy recipe! (I also loved that i could melt the butter and not have to cut it in!!!)
I nornally make my biscuits the long way, with all the rolling and cutting. I wanted biscuits this morning, but didn’t want all the extra work to get them. After looking at a couple recipes, I found this and chose to go with it because of the melted butter (I was feeling to lazy to deal with cutting butter into dough!)
These biscuits were DEFINITELY the winning recipe– quick, easy, and delicious. My husband and kids demolished the biscuts as quickly as they do my normal biscuits (but these took half the time to prepare!!) This recipe is a keeper. Thank you!
Sidenote – I used the same baking method for these as I do my regular biscuit recipe: I put the biscuits in a cold cast iron skillet that had melted bacon grease in the bottom. Then, about 2 min before they were done baking, I brushed melted butter on the tops of the biscuits and returned them to the oven until golden brown.
I’ve been in need of this recipe my whole life, grandma made them by feel and I could never get right these are perfect, she fed 12 of every morning with these sausage gravy and eggs…
Thanks!!
Great biscuits! Super easy and fast to make…they disappear fast too! Love these!
Can these be made the night before a large family gathering and heated up?
If so, how best to store and rewarm?

Delish! Just made these for breakfast and we both enjoyed them.
I needed something hearty for breakfast, and these made great biscuits for gravy and eggs!
The best part? My brother can also eat them! He has a soy allergy, and being able to provide bread products he can eat without worry is always a relief.
