Easy Drop Biscuits are a simple, quick and easy biscuit recipe that comes together in about 15 minutes! These biscuits are perfect with gravy or a nice addition to any meal!
Drop Biscuits:
Drop biscuits are a staple recipe in my house! They go perfectly with almost any meal, but especially with our Best Sausage Gravy for breakfast or a big bowl of Homemade Tomato Soup! My recipe uses simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. We use flour, baking powder, melted butter, milk, and a few seasonings to pull these biscuits together in only 15 minutes or so. There are no special steps, and my favorite part is that we use melted butter rather than cold butter to keep these even easier!
What are Drop Biscuits?
Drop biscuits are a type of biscuit that is made from scratch! They are called "drop" because there is no rolling out or cutting of the dough. They are simply biscuit dough dropped onto the pan from a spoon and then baked. This makes them much faster and easier to make than traditional biscuits that are cut into circles/squares and rolled.
How To Make Easy Drop Biscuits:
- The first step is, of course, to preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Prepare a large baking sheet with either butter, non-stick spray, or parchment paper.
- Next, I like to go ahead and cut my stick of butter into cubes, then melt it in the microwave.
- While the butter is melting, I whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and garlic powder in a large bowl.
- Then, add the milk and butter to the flour mixture and stir just until all of the flour is moistened.
- Drop the dough by heaping Tablespoons onto your prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-11 minutes until they are golden.
- Optional: If you choose you can brush these with extra melted butter right when they come out of the oven!
Enjoy!

Love these! I add extra garlic powder and use them with sausage gravy. Really good, easy recipe.
Thanks!!
My first time making drop biscuits. Made them to go with my beef stew. They were good. I didn’t add garlic.
I love this recipe! I double it, add a ton of wilted spinach and even shredded carrot on occasion (make sure to squeeze excess water out after wilting), onion powder, black pepper, parsley and a couple of handfuls of sharp cheddar cheese and bake these off at triple the size, think like 20 min...they make a great hiking, camping hand held lunch along with an apple
I'd love to try this! Just the other day, I did biscuits in a box, & I was thinking I'd love to learn to make them from scratch. Do you think that minced garlic could work instead of powdered garlic? And if so, how much is the right amount?
I make this recipe at least once a week as a side with meals. They are quick and easy. They always taste good. They are a perfect side for any meal!
Delicious. I used whole wheat flour and I had to bake 5 min. Longer because I live in the mountains
These taste amazing and are easy and quick to make!
These are so good and so easy!! I omit the garlic because we have the leftovers with jam or honey in the morning.
These are the best!! Thanks for a great recipe. I use them to make sausage gravy and biscuits. I actually bake them in my toaster oven, just adjust the time and temp. Perfection!! ?
I don't know how to cut butter but I needed biscuits this morning. This recipe did the trick. Thanks for sharing.

Just like it says they really are quick and easy, made then with country greasy for breakfast and my old man loved them!

Very easy and and tasty. I used an all purpose gluten free flour and this recipe worked grea!
You got me excited to try this gf gf ❤️
Any idea how they would be made with almond flour?
These are perfect. I've tried so many of these type drop biscuit recipes and all are too runny. I followed this recipe to the letter. Biscuits came out beautiful.
I noticed you didn't specify if the stick of butter is salted or not. Which is better? I'm making these now and just going to use unsalted since there is salt in the recipe. But I was just wondering what you used. I'll rate after we eat!
I typically use salted, either would be fine 🙂
I’ve used your recipe twice and tonight my hubs made them. So easy, so delicious and just overall perfection. Thank you for posting this!!
