One Bowl Chocolate Chip Banana Bread – The absolute best, super moist banana bread recipe that is easy to make in just one bowl! This banana bread is full of chocolate chips for even more decadence!
Just a quick note! This recipe was originally published in January 2017 and we’ve updated it just a tad to add a video. The chocolate chip banana bread stays the same! 🙂
Banana bread is something that I crave regularly, all year round. I look forward to cooler temperatures being upon us so that I actually feel like warming up my oven to make some!
Fall and winter are my favorite food seasons for sure. As you know, I love quick and simple dinners, but there’s also nothing I’d rather do than spend a weekend hunkered down in my kitchen baking away!
Actually, when I first started this blog about a year and a half ago, it was going to be pretty much baking recipes only! As I kept blogging, reading, and listening to everyone I started to understand that I would be much more of a value to you all if I posted things that we all need like weeknight dinner recipes!
Meals that are quick, easy, and not boring is what I was seeing that everyone wanted, and I enjoy making them and posting them just as much as sweet treats. Who would have thought?!
Chocolate Chip Banana Bread:
Making chocolate chip banana bread is a breeze with this simple one bowl recipe!
- First, you will want to mash your ripe bananas until they are as smooth as possible. Then, add your sour cream and butter to the bananas.
- Next, just drop in your sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix really well once again!
- Third, we will add the dry ingredients of flour, baking soda, and salt. This is where it’s important not to over-mix. Mix the batter just until everything is combined. Then, fold in the chocolate chips!
Enjoy!

Great recipe I substituted the sour cream for banana yogurt which balances out the chocolate chips so it’s nots so chocolaty and it still has a banana flavor. Also because the chips increase the sugar I lowered the sugar to 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup brown sugar. Grandkids #1 request.
Wonderful and Easy! Very moist! Am making for a second time today at the request of grandkids!
I am a realtively accomplished, self taught home baker. I know the science that goes into baking and I practice with different recipes a lot. I have been baking banana bread regularly for 12 years. I want to say that this is HANDS DOWN the best recipe I’ve ever tried. I will never use another recipe.
Literally in love with this recipe! I cut a little bit of the sugar out (use about 3/4c) and I sometimes even make them into muffins! Just bake them for 20 minutes instead.
Our fav recipe. Easy to throw together. We measure the chocolate chips with our heart lol
I’ve tied several good banana bread recipes, but this one surpasses them all! So delicious!
Easy, moist and very tasty. Hubby thought it should have walnuts, but I liked it without.
My technical analysis of this recipe: FREAKING AMAZING!!!
Seriously, this is dense and moist and super chocolatey. Like another commenter, I cut back a little on sugar and actually swapped in some brown for white sugar because I was out! One other modification, I swapped in a little mashed cottage cheese for some of the sour cream.
I’m done searching for banana bread recipes from now on!
OMG love this Banana bread! My kids have asked me almost every day to make it again, since I made it the first time! Just came back to get the recipe again, to make it again 🙂 Thanks Nichole 🙂
Delish! Serve it with a scoop of vanilla icrecream for a wonderful dessert!
I think this is the best banana bread I’ve ever made. I did use 4 bananas instead of 3, added about a teaspoon of cinnamon, and did half white chocolate chips and half Hersheys milk choc. It is so moist and delicious!! Bookmarked it
