Cherry Berry Watermelon Lemonade

Cherry Berry Watermelon Lemonade

What I enjoy most about this homemade lemonade is how the flavors meld together. Watermelon gives it that classic summer flavor, the berries make it taste extra fruity, and the cherries add a balance of tart sweetness that makes it different from regular pink lemonade. This unique lemonade instantly can make even the hottest day more bearable! The key is blending the fruits, then straining them so the lemonade turns out smooth and picture perfect.

Beat the heat this summer with more fruity drink recipes like strawberry lemonade, piña coladas, and frozen peach mojitos

Can I use frozen fruit?

Absolutely! Just be sure to thaw the fruit first. This will help them blend more easily, release more juices, and keep the lemonade from being too thick.

How to Make Cherry Berry Watermelon Lemonade

  1. Blend the fruits. Add the watermelon, berries, and cherries to a blender and blend until completely smooth.
  2. Strain. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher, pressing to extract as much juice as possible and discarding the solids.
  3. Add the final touches. Add the fresh lemon juice, water, and sugar, then stir well until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Adjust the sweetness. Taste and adjust sweetness or dilution with more sugar or water as needed.
  5. Chill, then serve! Chill in the fridge until cold. Serve over ice and garnish with extra fruit or citrus slices if desired.

Storing

You can store your lemonade in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Don’t store it with ice – it’ll melt and water down your lemonade.

Ingredient Notes

  • Watermelon – Make sure it’s ripe and preferably a deep pink/red color. The sweeter and juicier the watermelon is, the better your lemonade will taste.
  • Mixed Berries – Raspberries and blackberries are my go-to berries for this lemonade. Feel free to swap with blueberries and/or strawberries if desired!
  • Cherries – They’ll need to be pitted prior to using. Don’t use maraschino cherries! They’ll make the lemonade way too sweet and not create real cherry flavor.
  • Lemon Juice – You must use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor. You can add more lemon juice if you find that the lemonade is too sweet.
  • Water
  • Granulated Sugar – Add more or less sugar to control the sweetness of the lemonade.

Variations to Try

  • Add fresh mint. Blend a few mint leaves with the fruit or muddle mint in the pitcher. It adds a cool, fresh flavor that makes it even more perfect for summer!
  • Use simple syrup. Instead of stirring in granulated sugar, use simple syrup to sweeten the lemonade instead. This will save some time.
  • Turn it into popsicles. Pour the lemonade into popsicle molds and freeze. Add a few small berries or tiny watermelon cubes to each mold for a cute summer treat!
  • Make it boozy. You can add vodka, white rum, or tequila to this recipe for an adults-only drink!
