Banana bread is something that I crave regularly, all year round. I look forward to cooler temperatures being upon us so that I actually feel like warming up my oven to make some!
Fall and winter are my favorite food seasons for sure. As you know, I love quick and simple dinners, but there’s also nothing I’d rather do than spend a weekend hunkered down in my kitchen baking away!
Actually, when I first started this blog about a year and a half ago, it was going to be pretty much baking recipes only! As I kept blogging, reading, and listening to everyone I started to understand that I would be much more of a value to you all if I posted things that we all need like weeknight dinner recipes!
Meals that are quick, easy, and not boring is what I was seeing that everyone wanted, and I enjoy making them and posting them just as much as sweet treats. Who would have thought?!
But, it’s definitely baking season now and since we do like quick and easy around here, it was my goal to make this banana bread as simple as can be. It’s made in one bowl, no special equipment required! You won’t believe how gorgeous this bread turns out from such an effortless recipe. It’s so super soft and moist (I know we hate that word but sometimes it’s necessary, right?).
I will go ahead and say that I never added chocolate chips to my banana bread until after I had kids. I like banana bread plain, I like it with nuts (they won’t eat it with nuts!) and now I happen to love it packed to the brim with chocolate chips as well.
What I love about this banana bread, in particular, is that you can have it your way. Leave out the chocolate chips if you prefer and add some nuts. Or, if you just like plain old perfect banana bread with no nuts, chips, or frills then leave them all out!
Whatever you choose, you will fall in love with this banana bread recipe. Minimal work, only a handful of steps with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry, then let your oven do all the work!

- 3 Ripe Bananas
- 1/2 Cup Butter, Melted
- 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 Cup Granulated Suar
- 1 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter and flour, or spray with non stick cooking spray that has flour added.
In a large bowl mash the bananas until smooth. Str in the melted butter and sour cream. Stir in the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.
Stir in the baking soda, salt, and flour until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
