One Bowl Chocolate Chip Banana Bread - The absolute best, super moist banana bread recipe that is easy to make in just one bowl! This banana bread is full of chocolate chips for even more decadence!
Just a quick note! This recipe was originally published in January 2017 and we've updated it just a tad to add a video. The chocolate chip banana bread stays the same! 🙂
Banana bread is something that I crave regularly, all year round. I look forward to cooler temperatures being upon us so that I actually feel like warming up my oven to make some!
Fall and winter are my favorite food seasons for sure. As you know, I love quick and simple dinners, but there's also nothing I'd rather do than spend a weekend hunkered down in my kitchen baking away!
Actually, when I first started this blog about a year and a half ago, it was going to be pretty much baking recipes only! As I kept blogging, reading, and listening to everyone I started to understand that I would be much more of a value to you all if I posted things that we all need like weeknight dinner recipes!
Meals that are quick, easy, and not boring is what I was seeing that everyone wanted, and I enjoy making them and posting them just as much as sweet treats. Who would have thought?!
Chocolate Chip Banana Bread:
Making chocolate chip banana bread is a breeze with this simple one bowl recipe!
- First, you will want to mash your ripe bananas until they are as smooth as possible. Then, add your sour cream and butter to the bananas.
- Next, just drop in your sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix really well once again!
- Third, we will add the dry ingredients of flour, baking soda, and salt. This is where it's important not to over-mix. Mix the batter just until everything is combined. Then, fold in the chocolate chips!
Enjoy!

I love this recipe! It always turns out delicious! One thing I always run into is that I end up with more batter than can fit in a large 9x5, so I buy two smaller 9x5 pans and make two loaves with this recipe. I cannot complain
Great recipe with or without the sour cream!
I have made your banana bread recipe many times and I just added choc chips too it. Myself and my family absolutely love it. One of the best we’ve made. I just came across this recipe and haven’t made it yet. So the difference I see is adding in sour cream omitting cinnamon and less flour. Before I try this one can you tell me what the difference will be in taste texture between the 2?
Thanks so much, love your recipes
This has become a favorite in our home and in my opinion, the BEST banana bread I have ever made. My family requests it often! Thank you for sharing!
This recipe is always a huge hit!
This is the second time making this recipe. So easy and so delicious.
Made it for a work thing and people were coming up for seconds! Making it again now but I did a double batch and I should have added more flour, I think the bananas I used were much larger this time, but it looks good just taking longer to bake! So good!
My new go to recipe for banana bread. Wonderful!
The best tasting and easiest banana bread I have ever eaten and made! Thank you for this perfect recipe!
PS: I used plain greek yogurt because I didnt have sour cream.
This is decidely the VERY BEST banana I have ever eaten! My family AGREES!
I just made this last night and it was SO good! The entire loaf had a beautifully crunchy crust. It rose like no banana bread I've ever made before and it tasted divine! I didn't have sour cream so I used the full fat Greek yogurt that I always have on hand and it worked wonderfully. I did accidentally take it out of the oven a bit too early (since it's such a moist batter, you're probably going to need close to the full time), but luckily I was able to just pop it back in and it didn't effect the taste at all! I'll definitely be saving this recipe to use in the future.
