French Onion Chicken Pasta:
French onion chicken is simply chicken that is cooked along with delicious caramelized onions in a delicious beef broth and coated with lots of melty cheese! We add pasta to this recipe to make it a complete one pot meal.
To make this French onion chicken pasta you start by caramelizing the onions. This process takes about 15-20 minutes, and is mostly hands off. You will melt your butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then, add the onions and allow them to cook down while stirring only occasionally. You will know the onions are done when they are a golden brown “caramel” color and nice and tender.
Then, remove the onions from the pan to a bowl. You will brown the seasoned diced chicken on all sides, but it doesn’t need to be completely cooked through yet. Once the chicken is browned, add the onions back into the pan. Then, in goes the pasta and broth.
Now, cook about 10-12 minutes until your pasta is tender. Most of the liquid will be gone from the pan. There will be a small amount of liquid left and that is ok, it makes for a super creamy sauce when you stir in the cheese!

can i use chicken broth instead of beef broth?
Yes 🙂
Tried this tonight. It was pretty darn delicious and approved by all. I served it with a side of steamed broccoli. Will definitely make it again.
Loved it. Didnt have 3 cups of beef broth so I filled in with veggie broth and added beef bouillon delicious
Cooked this tonight & turned out delicious. After reading reviews I used 320z of beef broth & I sauted mushrooms to add. My husband enjoyed a well. Thank you.
Made for the first time. It was easy and whole “picky” family enjoyed it. I did add an extra cup of broth to make sure noodles were completely covered. I think it made it a bit too salty, so i would probably add a cup of water with the 3 cups of broth. In addition, i did cover it while it simmered. Overall, it was delicious and easy. Would for sure recommend and make again. Thanks
I have fixed this for my family a few times. And every time it satisfies everyone. It’s a great dish. Thank you.
Made for first time . Excellent!!!!
Delicious and very easy!
This is delicious and very easy! Only thing I might suggest is a bit more broth to ensure the noodles fully soften and putting the lid on the pan while the pasta simmers. Can’t wait to make and pair with roasted parmesan brussel sprouts, which I believe would be the perfect complement.
I also used 32 oz of broth. I think next time. I’ll use a little more than that because it was really thick. I also added mushrooms! It was very tasty! Hubby really liked it! This recipe will be added to my favorites! Thank you!!!
I used half a box of pasta, 2 cups of broth, and kept everything else as the recipe asks. Very good!! It has a lot of flavor, it’s easy, and the whole family loved it! Thank you for sharing.
