Creamy Jalapeno Dip is the ultimate game day appetizer! Cream cheese and sour cream mix together to create the creamy base and it’s all dressed up with salsa verde, fresh jalapenos, cilantro, and more. Consider making a double batch because this dip goes fast!
Creamy Jalapeno Dip
Everyone knows what the best part of the SuperBowl is, and it’s not the halftime show, the commercials, or even the game itself… it’s the snacks! Well, at least in my house that’s what we always look forward to the most. This year, I plan on making a double (possibly triple) batch of this creamy jalapeno dip recipe. It’s the definition of addictive! Between the thick and creamy consistency and the bold, vibrant flavors, there’s a whole lot to love here. And when it’s all served up with some salty, crunchy chips? Swoon. Oh, and I have it on good authority that this dip pairs perfectly with an ice cold beer. Touchdown!

Is creamy jalapeno dip spicy?
That all depends on what you consider to be spicy! Personally, I don’t find this dip spicy at all. Jalapenos are already a pretty mild pepper, and they’re further tamed by the cream cheese and sour cream. If you’d like to turn up the heat, consider leaving the jalapeno seeds in the mix instead of tossing them out. That’s where most of the heat can be found in the pepper!
How to Make Creamy Jalapeno Dip
- Blend. Measure all of your ingredients and toss them in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Stop and scrape as needed.
- Enjoy! Serve your dip right away with the chips of your choice! Or, store and save it for later.
Storing Creamy Jalapeno Dip
This is a perfect make-ahead dip! Once the dip is blended, transfer it to an airtight storage container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
I don’t recommend freezing creamy jalapeno dip. It won’t have the same consistency once frozen and thawed.
Ingredient Notes for Creamy Jalapeno Dip
- Cream Cheese & Sour Cream: For both of these key ingredients, I recommend using regular products with the full fat content. You can certainly opt for low-fat options if needed, but the consistency may not be quite as thick and rich.
- Salsa Verde: Grab your favorite store-bought option or go the extra mile with my favorite homemade Salsa Verde Recipe.
- Jalapeno: I usually only use one jalapeno (halved and deseeded) for this easy dip recipe. If you really love jalapenos, feel free to use two or even three!
- Cilantro: You can omit this if you have the cilantro-soap genetics. I personally love the pop of fresh flavor it provides!
- Green Onions: I only like to use the green parts of the onions in this dip.
- Dry Ranch Seasoning: Make sure you’re using the dry seasoning packet, not ranch dressing!
- Lime Juice: If possible, try to use freshly squeezed lime juice instead of the bottled alternative. The tangy, fresh taste really sends the whole dip over the top.
- Garlic Powder: While I typically advise measuring garlic with your heart, be careful! You don’t want the garlic powder to overpower the other ingredients.
- Salt: A little goes a long way!
Enjoy!
