Bubble Up Pizza
Let me introduce you to a quintessential kid-friendly recipe that you may have never heard of: bubble up pizza! It’s called that because of the way the biscuit dough bubbles up while baking. Basically, this easy weeknight dinner is just store-bought biscuit dough piled high with all of the best pizza toppings in a casserole dish. It’s quick, easy, inexpensive, and just plain fun. Even if you don’t have kids, you should treat yourself to this total comfort meal! It’s a weeknight staple in my home and it’s sure to become one in yours as well. If you do have kids, let them help you with the toppings. They’ll have a blast!

Why is my biscuit dough still raw in the middle?
The common culprits of raw dough include when the biscuit pieces are cut too large, crowded together, or the casserole simply needs a few more minutes in the oven. Be sure to cut each biscuit into 6 pieces and spread them evenly to try to avoid this!
How to Make Bubble Up Pizza
- Prepare. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Season the biscuits. Place the biscuit pieces in the baking dish and sprinkle with the garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes, and toss to coat.
- Add the sauce. Gently toss in the pizza sauce and spread out in an even layer.
- Add cheese and pepperoni. Sprinkle the mozzarella evenly over the top, then arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
- Bake. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Enjoy! Let it rest before serving with grated Parmesan and freshly minced parsley for garnish.

Storing and Reheating
Store leftover bubble up pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure it’s fully cooled to room temperature prior to storing to avoid condensation. To reheat, I recommend using the air fryer or oven! The microwave will zap the life right out of the biscuits. That being said, this is a dish best served right away.
Ingredient Notes
- Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Biscuits – These are my tried and true! You can use another type of biscuit if you’d like, but I can only really guarantee fail-proof results with these.
- Seasonings – To get that perfect pizza flavor, you’ll need a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes.
- Pizza Sauce – For the very best flavor, consider making some homemade pizza sauce! Marinara sauce also works if that’s what you have on hand.
- Mozzarella Cheese – For even more cheesy goodness, mix some parmesan in along with the mozzarella.
- Pepperoni – Of course, this is optional, but I find that it really drives home the pizza flavor! You can also add crumbled sausage for more meat.
- Optional – Add any other pizza toppings you love. Sliced olives, onions, banana peppers, or whatever else sounds good to you. This is a versatile recipe, so have fun!

Enjoy!
