Apple Butter Bread is my favorite fall quick bread recipe! It’s sweet, spiced, dense, and ridiculously moist from an entire cup of apple butter mixed right into the batter. The brown sugar cinnamon streusel on top makes it simply irresistible!

Apple Butter Bread
There’s nothing more quintessentially fall than apple butter. It’s just so cozy! Of all my favorite ways to use it, nothing beats this quick bread recipe. A cup of apple butter is stirred into the batter and it takes it to a whole new level. It doesn’t just add that signature warm, sweet fall flavor, but it also makes the bread unbelievably moist and dense. As if the bread itself wasn’t enough to make your mouth water, I also like to sprinkle a generous amount of crumbly cinnamon sugar streusel on top to really seal the deal. When this bakes in the oven, it makes your kitchen smell better than any candle ever could!

How do you know when it’s done?
After the 45 minute mark, it’s a pretty safe bet that your bread is fully cooked and ready to remove from the oven. If you’re not sure, you can always grab a toothpick! Stick it in the middle of the bread as deep as you can, and check it for batter. A few crumbs sticking to the toothpick is to be expected – wet batter means it needs a few more minutes.
How to Make Apple Butter Bread
- Prepare. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan. Or, line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Whisk. Whisk the apple butter, eggs, brown and white sugars, and butter until smooth.
- Sift. Sift the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the bowl.
- Combine. Stir just until combined. Do not over mix the batter!
- Pour. Pour the batter into the loaf pan. Set aside.
- Top. Mix together all the ingredients for the streusel topping until crumbly. Sprinkle the streusel all over the top of the batter.
- Bake. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
- Cool. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, place it on a wire rack to cool completely.

Storing Apple Butter Bread
Apple butter bread will stay good for up to 5 days at room temperature. Just make sure it’s either wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or stored in another airtight container.
Or, you can freeze it for up to 3 months. If you decide to freeze it, I recommend freezing individual slices rather than the entire loaf. A slice of bread thaws a whole lot quicker than an entire loaf. Separate each slice with a square of parchment paper and store in a gallon zip-top bag. Don’t forget to date and label!
Ingredient Notes for Apple Butter Bread
- Apple Butter: I like to use homemade apple butter whenever I can.
- Eggs: I like to let them adjust to room temperature before using, so they more smoothly mix into the batter.
- Sugars: You’ll need brown sugar and white granulated sugar for both the streusel topping and the batter.
- Butter: Unsalted and melted. Once it’s melted, let it cool before adding it to the batter so it doesn’t cook the eggs.
- All-Purpose Flour: It’s best to measure the flour by spooning it into the measuring cup, then leveling it with the back of a butter knife.
- Cinnamon: You’ll need this for both the batter and the streusel topping.
- Baking Powder and Baking Soda: Make sure that neither of these are expired! Double check your labels. If they’re outdated, they won’t be potent and your bread may fall flat.
- Salt: Just a pinch to help develop the other flavors.

Enjoy!
