Air Fryer Shrimp

I love shrimp. I do not, however, always love cooking shrimp. Especially having to sit there and sauté it or fry it up. Now with just a simple marinade and a pound of peeled shrimp, I can toss a batch into the air fryer and have delicious seafood made easy right at my fingertips in less than 20 minutes. And half of that time is just the shrimp sitting in a beautiful blend of lemon, cajun spices, and olive oil. Feel free to change up that flavor palate as you see fit! Make them as an appetizer or turn it into a main course served with some Buttermilk Pesto Pasta Salad! This recipe is super versatile, easily customizable, and perfect for busy weeknight dinner.

What can I serve with air fryer shrimp?

The better question is what can’t you serve with air fryer shrimp? Or how about next to some Roasted Vegetables and a bed of your favorite rice? Serve them as shrimp tacos with Black Bean Salsa or as a shrimp po boy sandwich. Add these little beauties to a salad with your favorite toppings for lunch. Eat them by themselves with some tartar, cocktail sauce, or plain (the flavor is that good). One of my favorite ideas is to top Pesto or Alfredo pasta and let the cajun marinated shrimp sink right in.

How To Make Air Fryer Shrimp

  • Preheat. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F while you move onto the shrimp.
  • Marinate. In a large mixing bowl, throw in the shrimp, pour in the olive oil and lemon juice, then add in garlic powder, onion powder, cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss until the shrimp are fully coated then let them marinate for about 10 minutes or so.
  • Cook. Add half of the marinated shrimp to the air fryer in a flat layer so they don’t overlap. Cook for 4 minutes. Flip the shrimp and cook for another 3 minutes or until they are pink and fully cooked through. Continue this process until all the shrimp is cooked.
  • Serve. Serve them hot with freshly minced parsley and lemon wedges. Enjoy!

Ingredients Notes for Air Fryer Shrimp

  • Shrimp – Make sure the shrimp are peeled and deveined. You can use fresh or frozen shrimp but if you use frozen, thaw the shrimp before marinating. You may also want to pat dry the thawed shrimp to remove extra moisture.
  • Seasonings – I opt for a pretty classic blend for this recipe but you can absolutely swap for your own. Try Greek seasoning, Old Bay, lemon pepper, or whatever you like!
  • Garnishes – These are optional but I feel like you can never go wrong with some parsley and lemon wedges on the side of a good seafood dish.
  • Storing – Store any leftover shrimp you may have in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Also, be sure to let the cooked shrimp fully cool to room temperature prior to storing. Serve them cold or reheat them in the air fryer for a couple minutes. Try not to overheat them – you don’t want them to get rubbery and tough.

Notes

NOTE ON SHRIMP:  I recommend getting already peeled or eazy peel shrimp that has already been deveined to make your life easier.
NOTE ON SERVING SIZE:  If you are eating this by themselves the recipe will serve 2, however if you’re serving with sides such as rice/veggies it will serve 3-4.
