Teriyaki Noodles
Teriyaki noodles are the perfect dish when recreating your takeout favorites at home. Honestly with how good these are, you could just eat the noodles and make them the main course, much like our Sesame Garlic Ramen Noodles! This recipe is super simple to make with ingredients you likely already have on hand. I love to throw a pot of these together after a busy day, toss them in the homemade sauce, and be done. They are flavorful enough to stand on their own while being the ultimate savory and sweet to pair with any Asian inspired recipes. Top them with some sliced green onions and sesame seeds to add in just a tad more flavor and crunch and you’ve got your next comfort food obsession.
Looking to complete your meal? Try pairing these noodles with one pot Sheet Pan Cashew Chicken or some healthy Asian Lettuce Wraps, and an extra side of classic Stir Fried Vegetables!
What Noodles to Use for Teriyaki Noodles
While spaghetti is always on hand in my pantry, you don’t have to use that specific style of pasta for these noodles. The teriyaki sauce works on anything and the cooking process will remain the same no matter what type you opt for. Try using lo mein or ramen for something slightly more traditional. Or go for wide egg noodles or linguini. This even works great over some white or brown rice! I’m a firm believer in using what you got, so raid your pantry and dig in!
How To Make Teriyaki Noodles
- Boil. Salt a large pot of water and boil the noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Mix. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, honey, ginger, and a ¼ cup of water. Stir until fully combined.
- Saute. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sesame oil then saute the garlic for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
- Toss. Stir the teriyaki sauce once more then pour into the skillet. Add the spaghetti and toss. Continue tossing until the spaghetti is fully coated and the sauce has thickened to your liking. If you want a thinner sauce, add more water. For a thicker sauce, add more cornstarch.
Storing Teriyaki Noodles
You can store leftover noodles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just toss them in the microwave for about a minute or so to reheat. I recommend tasting them and adding more soy sauce, water or seasonings to your own taste if needed.
Ingredients Notes for Teriyaki Noodles
- Spaghetti – You could also try this with ramen noodles, linguine, egg noodles, udon, or whatever you have on hand.
- Soy Sauce – I like to use low sodium soy sauce so I have more control over the salt, however use what you prefer or what you already have on hand.
- Cornstarch – This helps thicken the sauce a bit so that the pasta isn’t runny.
- Brown Sugar – For a deliciously sweet flavor to balance out the salty and savoy aspects.
- Honey – Use your favorite or opt for another natural sweetener. You can use maple syrup instead.
- Ginger Powder – Ginger is a must for teriyaki sauce. It blends the flavors together beautifully. If you want to be fancy and use freshly minced/grated ginger, that works too!
- Water – To give our sauce just a bit more liquid as opposed to making it a marinade or glaze.
- Sesame Oil – I love the flavor this adds when sauteeing the garlic. It’s also not too overpowering.
- Garlic – Freshly minced or out of the jar if that’s what you have! You can of course add more if desired.
Enjoy!
