A Fall Aperol Spritz is a seasonal, festive take on this classic cocktail. Sub in the apple cider and garnish with fresh apple slices and a cinnamon stick and you’ve got a beautiful drink that’s perfect for those falling leaves and sweater weather!

Fall Aperol Spritz
I think we all need something a little stronger than just a glass of warm cider or hot cocoa around this time of year. Melt away all the pressures of holiday prep with a bright and bubbly fall aperol spritz! A traditional Aperol Spritz comes from Italy. It’s typically served as an “aperitivo” prior to dinner to stimulate your appetite. So don’t let anyone tell you you can’t have a drink while getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s chic, you’re doing as the Italians do! To add an extra autumnal twist to the classic recipe, we’re swapping the soda water for some crisp apple cider! The aperol is already tinged orange so the apple cider mixed in just enhances it to a beautiful golden color that glows just like a breathtaking fall sunset. A fall aperol spritz is truly the ideal Thanksgiving cocktail in presentation and taste! The sweet apple with hints of tart and bright citrus mix so well with the bubbly prosecco. A round (or two) of these will surely get you in the thankful spirit!
Keep the party going with a pitcher of Thanksgiving Margaritas or a round of bubbly Cinnamon Orange Spritzers!
How do I make this into a batch cocktail?
While this recipe is for one drink, making a whole round or a large party pitcher is incredibly easy. The key is keeping the ratio of ingredients the same. A simple way to do this is to multiply by the number of servings you’d like to make. Serving 5? 3 ounces of apple cider is now 15. 2 ounces of aperol? Now you need 10 and so on. Mix everything in a large pitcher or serving bowl without the ice. Serve over ice and garnish as you go. Although you could add the apples and orange slices directly to the pitcher and the fruit will soak up some of the alcohol as it sits! It’s a fun extra treat when you get to the bottom of your glass!
How To Make Fall Aperol Spritz
- Pour. Using a large wine glass, pour in the chilled apple cider, Aperol, cranberry juice, and prosecco.
- Add. Add ice if you like.
- Stir. Stir until well mixed.
- Serve. Serve with garnishes of sliced apples and oranges. Cheers!

Storing Fall Aperol Spritz
This drink is best served and enjoyed immediately. If you intend on making a larger batch of cocktails, add all ingredients minus the ice to a pitcher and refrigerate. I still recommend enjoying it as soon as possible, within a couple hours of mixing the drink. Add ice and garnishes upon serving.
Ingredients Notes for Fall Aperol Spritz
A note for all of these ingredients – they should be chilled prior to mixing your cocktail!
- Apple Cider – Spiced, traditional, or homemade apple cider. Use whatever you like!
- Aperol – The flavors in this Italian liquor can be a bit bittersweet with the mixing of orange and rhubarb. It compliments the very sweet cider wonderfully! Aperol spritzes have become quite popular so you should have no trouble finding this in your local liquor store or maybe even at the supermarket.
- Cranberry Juice – You can use pure or sweetened cranberry juice. I love the tart taste this brings to the cocktail.
- Prosecco – My rule when it comes to alcohol is to buy the best that’s still within your budget. You don’t want to sacrifice taste but you also don’t want to sacrifice your wallet!

Enjoy!
