Crockpot French Toast Casserole

There are very few things that actually make me excited to wake up in the morning, and this recipe is one of those very few things! While there are a few steps to follow before slow cooking this French Toast Casserole, they’re all very easy and well worth the effort. When you’re sleepy eyed in the morning, after all, you need an easy recipe! Oh, and the warm, sweet smells that will permeate your home from your slow cooker are sure to entice your family to join you in the kitchen. Don’t you just love an easy breakfast recipe that doubles as an alarm clock?

Why make French Toast Casserole in the Crockpot?

Just like any good slow cooker recipe, this Crockpot French Toast Casserole is so easy to make! Besides being easy, though, there’s one delicious benefit to making this breakfast staple in the Crockpot. When slowly cooked, the cubes of French bread are warmed to the most delightfully tender, soft consistency. Plus, they’re really infused with that signature French toast flavor! How to Store Crockpot French Toast Casserole

Once your casserole fully cools to room temperature, you can place any leftovers you have into an airtight food storage container. Pop it into the fridge, where it’ll stay fresh for up to 4 days.

Ingredient Notes for Slow Cooker French Toast Casserole

Bread – Make sure you’re using French bread, and for the best results, don’t skip my step about getting the bread stale! If your bread isn’t slightly stale, it likely will turn mushy and lose shape in the Crockpot.
Milk – For the most decadent results, use whole milk, not skim or a plant based substitute.  However, any milk works fine.
Brown Sugar – If you don’t have any on hand, you can easily make your own by tossing some white granulated sugar (one cup) and molasses (one tablespoon) together!
