Cheesy Chicken Tater Tot Casserole – This cheesy tater tot casserole makes for one of the best family friendly weeknight dinners! Easy to make, full of cheese, ranch seasoning, chicken, and tater tots!
Oh my goodness, you guys. Can we please talk tater tot casserole today? This dish takes me straight back to my childhood.
Did you grow up eating tater tot casserole? If you did, was it called casserole or hot dish at your house?
We’ve never used the term “hot dish” and I actually didn’t know anyone called it that until a couple of years ago!
Whatever you call it, can we agree that this is the ultimate comfort food?
I haven’t met a single person that doesn’t want to devour every last bite of this meal as soon as they smell it all warm out of the oven!
Growing up, we always had the standard ground beef version of this classic supper. Now that I’m older, I prefer it with tender, shredded rotisserie chicken!
Typically I have a batch of my All Purpose Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken on hand as well, sometimes I don’t want to go to the store and pick up a chicken after a busy day!
So, let me tell ya why I love the chicken version so much!
-
It’s still super easy to make. I don’t top my casserole with the tater tots, I mix them in with everything else for max flavor.
-
Again with the flavor of this. Condensed cheddar cheese soup is BEST here, you can sub cream of mushroom or chicken if you prefer. But, if you use the cheese soup you’ll really be head over heels. It also calls for sour cream and a packet of ranch seasoning mix. Over the top with creamy goodness.
-
It’s a major crowd pleaser. This is a big 9×13 inch casserole, which is enough to feed a crowd, or for us as a family of 4 to get two meals out of it. WIN.
Enjoy this family fave comfort food deliciousness! If you’re looking for more easy meals that your family will love, try my Crockpot Frito Chili Pie or Cheddar Biscuit Topped Chicken Pot Pie!

This looks so yummy. I’ve never had tater tot casserole. I’m not a huge fan of tater tots because of the texture but I think it wouldn’t bother me in a casserole.
In the description it says”IT ALSO CALLS FOR SOUR CREAM AND A PACKET OF RANCH SEASONING MIX”in the recipe there is no mention of ranch dressing mix whatsoever I’m still going to make this thanks
