Oh my goodness, you guys. Can we please talk tater tot casserole today? This dish takes me straight back to my childhood. You can find my recipe for traditional Tater Tot Casserole and Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole on the blog as well!
How to Make Chicken Tater Tot Casserole:
Typically I have a batch of my All Purpose Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken on hand as well, sometimes I don’t want to go to the store and pick up a chicken after a busy day!
- Start with preheating your oven and lightly greasing a 9×13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Next, use a large bowl and mix together your shredded chicken with the soups, sour cream, powdered ranch mix, and additional seasonings.
- Spread the chicken mixture in the pan that you have prepared and top evenly with the tater tots.
- Then, the casserole will bake for about 35-45 minutes. The dish will be hot and bubbly and the tater tots will be golden brown when finished.
Enjoy!

This looks delicious! I’d like to make it for dinner tonight but i’m a little confused. In step 2 the last item to add in is the Tater Tots, but if we add them in, how much do we add so we have enough left to cover the top? Also, will this work the same with Crispy Crowns? That’s what I have on hand, thanks!
Hi! You will use the whole bag, or pretty close to the entire bag anyway to cover the top. Yes, crispy crowns work great! 🙂
Making this to night😁
Can’t wait to try this, I think I will add bacon too.
In the description it says”IT ALSO CALLS FOR SOUR CREAM AND A PACKET OF RANCH SEASONING MIX”in the recipe there is no mention of ranch dressing mix whatsoever I’m still going to make this thanks
Yes it is in step 2
This looks so yummy. I’ve never had tater tot casserole. I’m not a huge fan of tater tots because of the texture but I think it wouldn’t bother me in a casserole.
