Baked Oyster Crackers are a quick and easy way to elevate your snack game! These crunchy crackers are tossed with ranch and Cajun flavors in a buttery mixture that’ll make your mouth water.
Baked Oyster Crackers
Everyone should have a go-to snack recipe that they can easily make and in extra large quantities if needed. There are some pretty great ones out there… but these baked oyster crackers will blow them all out of the water. Take simple, unassuming oyster crackers. Coat them in butter with a blend of savory Cajun spices and tangy ranch seasoning, throw in some crushed red pepper and garlic. Bake them until golden and voila! You’ve got a new snack that you won’t be able to get enough of. This recipe makes about 3-4 cups of seasoned crackers but I highly recommend doubling or tripling the ingredients to make a larger batch. You’ll be shocked with how quickly your hand finds the bottom of that bowl!

What are oyster crackers?
Oyster crackers are small crackers, almost the size of a goldfish cracker. They’re puffy which gives them an amazing crunch and also allows them to soak up all that butter and flavor. You’ll find them in the grocery store around the saltines and other crackers and are typically used to top soups or salads for added crunch. You can absolutely use this baked variety in the same way! Cajun ranch seasoned crackers on a broccoli cheese or loaded potato soup sounds devine!
How To Make Baked Oyster Crackers
- Preheat. Preheat the oven to 250°F. We don’t need an overly hot oven for this recipe.
- Mix the coating. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, ranch seasoning, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper.
- Toss and coat. Spread the oyster crackers out in a single layer on a large baking dish (or a couple smaller ones, whatever you have). Pour the butter mixture over top and toss to coat evenly.
- Bake and serve. Bake the crackers for 20 minutes. Remove and toss once more, then bake for another 10 minutes. The crackers are ready when they reach a golden brown and are nice and crunchy. Let them cool before serving and enjoy!
Storing Baked Oyster Crackers
This cracker snack can be stored in an airtight container on your counter for about 1 week. Perfect for prolonged munching! Just make sure they’re totally cooled to room temperature prior to storing, otherwise moisture will form and make them soggy.
Ingredients Notes for Baked Oyster Crackers
- Butter – I know we generally opt for unsalted butter, but in this case we want a salted butter. There isn’t a lot of salt being added so we want some of that flavor to come through somewhere. You do also want to make sure the butter is totally melted to ensure no globs of seasoning mixture get stuck on any cracker. You can use olive oil as a slightly healthier or non dairy alternative.
- Seasoning Blend – I love a good Cajun ranch combo but you can use your own flavors to create unique profiles and options. Maybe try an Old Bay batch or garlic parm.
- Crushed Red Pepper – If you don’t want to include any spice you can leave out the crushed red pepper. If you’re making a large batch for kids, they may not like the spicy pieces. Of course you can always add more for a spicier blend as well.
Enjoy!
