Crockpot Green Beans are an easy way to make a classic side dish. Whether you’re making them for the holidays, an event, or just for a family dinner, you can never go wrong with a heaping helping of fresh green beans, slow cooked to tender perfection!

Crockpot Green Beans
Most of the time when you think of green beans as a side dish you go right to big holiday get togethers like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter. But did you know summer is the best time to get fresh green beans? Really any time from late spring to about early fall (depending on where you are in the country) so all your summer holidays can benefit from this classic comfort side dish as well! There’s minimal prep here so all you really need to do is cook up the bacon ahead of time. Beyond that this is just like all those other slow cooker recipes we love, just dump everything together and walk away. This method is great if you don’t want to use the oven to bring even more heat into the house or if you’ve got a large dinner you’re preparing for and need all the stove and oven space you’ve got! These tender, expertly seasoned green beans go with just about any (if not all) main courses. Whether a roast, grilled chicken, or even salmon, these green beans are always a delicious addition to your meal!
On the hunt for more easy side dishes to complete your main course? How about some easy Air Fryer Corn on the Cob or Perfect Roasted Carrots in honey butter?
What if I can’t get fresh green beans?
If you happen to be making this recipe outside of prime green bean picking season, no worries! You can use frozen green beans. Look for extra fine, whole green beans. These are the longer and thinner variety and will cook most similarly to the fresh kind. You may have to cook closer to the 6 hour mark with frozen green beans, if not add a little extra time but they will definitely work in a pinch!
How To Make Crockpot Green Beans
- Combine. Add the green beans to your crockpot then pour the beef broth over top. Stir to ensure the green beans are covered.
- Mix. In a small bowl, mix together the cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, steak seasoning, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the green beans and stir again.
- Add. Sprinkle the remaining season blend over top and add the cooked and crumbled bacon pieces.
- Cook. Cover with the crockpot lid and cook on low for 4-6 hours, until the green beans are tender.
- Serve. Give everything a final gentle stir and serve while warm. Enjoy.
Storing Crockpot Green Beans
Store leftover green beans in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave until warmed through.
Ingredients Notes for Crockpot Green Beans
- Green Beans – About 2 pounds of fresh green beans. Rinse them and chop the ends off. An easy way to cut the green beans is to snap off the ends (and it’s kind of fun once you get started). Some like to pull the string off the edge of each green bean but you don’t have to, it’s all up to your preference!
- Seasoning – Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, steak (or burger) seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Beef Broth – I like to use low sodium but use what you have on hand. You can swap this for vegetable broth to keep the dish vegetarian if needed just be aware it will alter the taste a bit.
- Bacon – Cooked to your desired crisp level, and chopped into small pieces.
Enjoy!
