French Onion Steak Bites are so easy to make with just 15 minutes of prep time! Sirloin steak is cut into bite-sized pieces and cooked to tender perfection before being served with the most incredible buttery caramelized mushrooms and onions.
Heat a large pot over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, and cook the sirloin pieces with salt and pepper, until browned, about 8 minutes. Strain from the pot, discard the liquid and set aside.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the same pan and sauté the onions for 2 minutes until slightly softened.
Add in the mushrooms then reduce the heat to medium, and caramelize for 30 minutes, stirring every 5-10 minutes.
Stir in the garlic, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
Mix in the cooked steak and remaining butter, and cook for 5 minutes allowing the flavors to meld together.
Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or cauliflower rice, and freshly chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
NOTE ON MUSHROOMS: If you don't like mushrooms, you can leave them out and make the recipe as directed otherwise. I like to use baby bella mushrooms because they have great flavor, but any mushrooms you like will work!
