One Bowl Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Just a quick note!  This recipe was originally published in January 2017 and we’ve updated it just a tad to add a video.  The chocolate chip banana bread stays the same! 🙂

Banana bread is something that I crave regularly, all year round.  I look forward to cooler temperatures being upon us so that I actually feel like warming up my oven to make some!

Fall and winter are my favorite food seasons for sure.  As you know, I love quick and simple dinners, but there’s also nothing I’d rather do than spend a weekend hunkered down in my kitchen baking away!

Actually, when I first started this blog about a year and a half ago, it was going to be pretty much baking recipes only!  As I kept blogging, reading, and listening to everyone I started to understand that I would be much more of a value to you all if I posted things that we all need like weeknight dinner recipes!

Meals that are quick, easy, and not boring is what I was seeing that everyone wanted, and I enjoy making them and posting them just as much as sweet treats.  Who would have thought?!

One Bowl Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips Easy

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread:

Making chocolate chip banana bread is a breeze with this simple one bowl recipe!

  • First, you will want to mash your ripe bananas until they are as smooth as possible.  Then, add your sour cream and butter to the bananas.
  • Next, just drop in your sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix really well once again!
  • Third, we will add the dry ingredients of flour, baking soda, and salt.  This is where it’s important not to over-mix.  Mix the batter just until everything is combined. Then, fold in the chocolate chips!

How would I adapt the baking time to use
mini baking pans! How many mini
loaves would this recipe make? I want to
bake them as small gifts for a group.

LOVE this recipe! Ever since stumbling upon it a few weeks ago, my kids and I have made it Every Sunday! Thank you for sharing!

I have always been a banana bread fan & have tried many recipes, but had never added sour cream to the batter before. What a game changer! My daughter & I taste tested at breakfast and then I somewhat reluctantly cut up the rest to take to a morning meeting at work. There were rave reviews all around and not a crumb left! I’m actually more likely to have plain Greek yogurt in the fridge than sour cream, so I will be trying that substitution next. Thanks for the delicious treat!

I’ve Been making this every week now for a few months because it is so easy in my stand mixer and one additional bowl for mixing the dry ingredients in. It’s so delicious— the only tweak is that I substitute half the butter for coconut oil, melt them together and always make a double batch! Thanks for such an awesome recipe!

Best banana bread ever!!!! I did add a few extra chocolate chips just because nobody can ever get enough chocolate. I will be making this again and two loaves were requested by my family.

    1. You’re right, never such a thing as too much chocolate! So glad that you and your family enjoyed this! 🙂
