pizza toast made using frozen garlic bread with pizza sauce and toppings

This quick and easy pizza toast is one of those recipes that is a staple in our house.  I love garlic bread pizzas and have been making them for years.  They are our “go-to” supper on super busy evenings, and they’re great because everyone in the house can top them the way that they please!

How to make garlic bread pizza:

I have a couple of step by step photos for you in this post in case you haven’t made pizza toast before.  It’s really simple and there is one trick in particular that makes a huge difference in how these come out.

Bake the bread first!  Most frozen garlic bread only takes about 5 minutes to cook in the first place.  So, go ahead and preheat your oven and cook according to package directions.

After you have cooked your garlic bread slices, simply top the bread with your favorite pizza or marinara sauce.  After that, you can add your mozzarella cheese, and any toppings you desire.

Keep in mind, freshly shredded mozzarella cheese from a block will melt better than the pre-shredded stuff.  If you are pressed for time or only have pre-shredded on hand, these will still taste great!

Once your toppings are on, you will simply turn your oven on to broil and add the garlic bread pizzas back to the oven for about 2-3 minutes.  Just until the cheese is hot and bubbly.

Pizza Toast:

If you don’t have frozen garlic bread at home, you can make pizza toast using regular sliced bread as well!  You will simply spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray first.

If desired, you can lightly butter and add a little garlic powder or garlic salt to the bread as well before toasting it in the oven.

Then, add your six slices of bread and toast in the oven for 3-5 minutes until they are starting to toast.  Next, pull the bread out and add your toppings as desired.  Pop them back in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese is melted, and you are good to go!

  1. What a great family dinner option for pizza night! It’d be fun to do a topping bar and have everyone create their own.
