Making salmon at home really doesn’t get any easier than this!  I know a lot of friends, family, and readers that have asked me to put up my favorite salmon recipe because they love it, but, they just don’t know how to make it!  I even polled you guys on Instagram earlier this week to see which recipe you wanted on the blog first this week, and the vote was almost 100% SALMON!  We love this one and have it a couple times per month, salmon doesn’t have to be saved for when you go out to a restaurant, you can make it at home in less than 30 minutes.  If you’re looking for a side dish, we’ve been enjoying our salmon lately with these Roasted Carrots!

How to Make Baked Salmon:

This salmon recipe requires very minimal effort, and pantry staple ingredients.  You will need one side of salmon (2-3 pounds worth), butter, garlic, cajun seasoning, honey, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.  The combo of honey, garlic, and Cajun seasoning gives this salmon some amazing flavor!

  • Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees.  Then, place a large sheet of foil onto a rimmed baking sheet and spray with non-stick cooking spray, or grease lightly with oil.
  • Remove the salmon from it’s package and pat completely dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl melt your butter, then whisk in the garlic, honey, and lemon juice.
  • Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning as well as salt and pepper to taste over the salmon evenly.
  • Pour the butter and honey mixture over the salmon.
  • Fold the sides of the foil up over the salmon to create a packet.  Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  • OPTIONAL:  After the 20 minutes is up, carefully open the foil packet and broil the salmon for 3-5 minutes until slightly golden on the top.

How to Tell When Salmon is Done:

Personally, I don’t like to mess around with meat temperatures.  I highly recommend getting yourself a meat thermometer to keep in your kitchen if you don’t have one.  They are cheap to purchase, and can be found at almost any store!  Salmon should be cooked to 145 degrees before consuming.  You will be able to tell that the fish flakes apart easily with a fork.

How to Reheat Salmon:

Salmon like other fish is truly best when eaten the first time it’s cooked.  However, you can reheat it at a low temp of 250 degrees, covered in foil in the oven for about 15 minutes or so until heated through.  Keep in mind that leftover salmon is also tasty cold out of the refrigerator if you don’t want to reheat it!  I actually happen to love the leftovers cold on top of this Chopped Salad in place of the chicken!

Cajun Garlic Baked Salmon

Cajun Garlic Baked Salmon is moist, tender, and simple to make with easy cleanup!  You'll love this salmon baked to perfection with a mouthwatering, buttery, Cajun garlic sauce!

Ingredients 

  • 1 2-3 Pound Salmon Filet
  • 5 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • Juice of one lemon, about 2 Tablespoons
  • 1 Tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Parsley for garnish optional

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with foil, spray with non-stick cooking spray or lightly grease with oil and set aside.
  • Pat the salmon dry and place on the foil.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the melted butter, garlic, honey, and juice of one lemon.
  • Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper evenly over the salmon, then drizzle with the butter mixture.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes until cooked through.**

Notes

**NOTE:  It is recommended that salmon be cooked to a temperature of 145 degrees before consuming.

    This reminds me of my last job before I decided to become a SAHM. I wored for a restaurant doing the catering sales and I used to eat blackened salmon like 3 days a week. I never eat it that way anymore, but this is going to change that! The addition of the honey and garlic to the spices are such a great way to boost the flavors!
